Wonderful and beautiful park to hike. It is extremely busy though which takes away from the peace for me but it is still worth going and seeing the amazing views. The crowds make parking difficult unless you are really early or go later in the day like 2 PM. The line to enter the park is sometimes long and at the information desk too. They have free parking in town with a free shuttle bus. It is $30 dollars a car and entry is good for u days. I wish they would offer a cheaper day pass for those wh can't make multiple visits. There are many deer, squirrels, chipmunks and bighorn sheep too. I hope to return.
My first Zion experience has been nothing short of amazing. I did hikes of around 15-16 miles in 2 days of stay. I was waiting to hike Angel's Landing for some time, this was time when i did it.
Few Tips
Busy from time to time, but the area will reward with excellent views. Shuttle services I highly recommend to get around. Please note that when passing through the park from Bryce to Zion (or other way around) with an RV or bus you will pass through a tunnel. I recommend checking if you fit through the tunnel as it has an height constraint and wish to pay 15$ for it.
2. Pack your food - if you are one of the picky one, Zion has less food option. Zion Lodge is only place to get food. Water is available on few stops - Zion Lodge, Grotto and Temple of Sinewava. Better pack energy bars and sometime light to eat and plenty of water
These people have to deal with millions of lost tourists and their silly questions, and yet when I pull up to talk to them they were very friendly and efficient. What more can you ask for? Great job!
Beautiful park! Worth the drive from Southern California. If you love the outdoors or want to experience it, there are so many great hikes you can choose from regardless of your skill level. 10/10 will come back for more!!!
3. hike easily, not in stressful ways. Zion has wonderful but steep dangerous hikes. You don't want to lose control and hurt yourself or anyone else.
4. For stay , prefer Zion local lodge or hotels in Springdale city outside. More options available in Hurricane ( 20-25 miles) and St. George( 40-50 miles) , UT
1. Reach early as possible in park. the buses to different places start at 6 am local time from visitor center. Depending on good weather, it will be less crowd and easy to hike with no or minimal wait time on few hikes
